Miss Lillian at her 100th birthday party. |
Miss Lillian Beard dies at the age of 101.
Lillian Beard (Mrs. Louis Beard, but known to all as Miss Lillian.) For those of you who did not have the privilege of knowing Lillian Beard, she began interpreting for her Deaf parents and others at First Baptist Church, Houston, Texas when she was just a teenager. She did not have a high school education, but God blessed her with His wisdom. She was a leader in developing Baptist deaf ministries in Texas, and throughout the nation. She inspired interpreters and Deaf people at meetings of the Southern Baptist Conference of the Deaf. She was one of the founders of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She was our example of humility and quiet service. She died this week at the age of 101! |
